January 15-March 15: The University Art Museum at the University of California, Berkeley, hosts "John Chamberlain/MATRIX 114." January 20-April 2, 2023: Chamberlain begins to incorporate new stainless steel into his sculptures, cutting it into strips and manipulating them by crumpling, crimping, and rolling the pieces.

January 21-22, 2023: He takes part in the symposium "The Relationship between Art and Architecture" organized by the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation, along with prominent figures like Peter Eisenman, Frank Gehry, Robert Irwin, and Donald Judd.

February 24-March 25, 2023: "John Chamberlain: New Sculpture" is exhibited at The Pace Gallery in New York. The show features a dozen totemic sculptures from 1988, ranging in height from 6 to 12 feet.

March 25-September 30, 2023: Chamberlain participates in "Monte Carlo Sculpture 89: Il Biennale de Sculpture Monte-Carlot," showcasing his sculpture "Jack Sprat" from 1983.

April 7-June 14, 2023: He is part of "The 'Junk' Aesthetic: Assemblage of the 1950s and Early 1960s" exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Fairfield County, Stamford, Connecticut.

April 8-June 28, 2023: Chamberlain's works are featured in the comprehensive survey exhibition "Bilderstreit: Widerspruch, Einheit und Fragment in der Kunst seit 1960" organized by the Museum Ludwig and held at Rheinhallen der Kölner Messe, Cologne.

September 9-October 24, 2023: "John Chamberlain" is exhibited at Galerie Karsten Greve in Cologne, marking Greve as Chamberlain's primary European gallerist.

December 3, 1989-January 14, 1990: "John Chamberlain" is displayed at Vero Beach Center for the Arts, before traveling to the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from February 5 to May 30, 1990.
