January 29-May 1: Chamberlain participates in the exhibition "Paint on Metal: Modern and Contemporary Explorations and Discoveries" at the Tucson Museum of Art in Arizona.

April 20-May 21: "John Chamberlain 'Without Fear: Sculpture from 1988 to 2003" is exhibited at Waddington Galleries in London. The show features a dozen sculptures, many with intricate painted patterns on their surfaces.

September 3-November 20: "John Chamberlain, Papier Paradisio: Drawings, Collages, Reliefs, Paintings" takes place at Kunstmuseum Winterthur in Switzerland. This is the first survey of Chamberlain's works on paper, including drawings from his time at Black Mountain College in 1956, acoustic-ceiling-tile collages from 1960-63, and paintings from the MAAB series of 1971.

October 5, 2005-June 1, 2006: "John Chamberlain: Foam Sculptures (1966-1981) and Photographs (1989-2004)" is exhibited at The Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas. This is the first comprehensive survey of Chamberlain's foam works since their debut in 1966 at the Dwan Gallery. The exhibit includes thirty-one foam sculptures and a Cradle (1984), related to the foam couches.

October 21-December 3: "John Chamberlain: Recent Sculpture" is the inaugural exhibition at the new Chelsea space of PaceWildenstein, 545 West Twenty-Second Street, New York. The exhibit features sixteen sculptures, including "Thicket" (1997), "Roots" (2005), three white-and-chrome works ("Sphinx" from 2004, "Wandering Gargoyle" from 2005, and "Women's Voices" from 2005), and "Neptune's Cap" (2005). The latter sculpture, made entirely from stainless steel and measuring 95 × 72 × 53 inches, was originally conceived in the early 1980s for a former officers' club swimming pool in Marfa, Texas.

Chamberlain also participates in the exhibition "Pittura e spazio" at Buchmann Skulpturenprojekte & Kunsthandel in Agra, Switzerland.

2006

January 15-February 26; Chamberlain participates in "Auto-nom-mobile: Das Automobil in der zeitgenössischen Kunst" at Kasseler Kunstverein in Kassel, Germany.

February 24-March 25: "John Chamberlain, Bruce Nauman" takes place at Andrea Rosen Gallery (Gallery 2) in New York. The exhibition includes two foam sculptures by Chamberlain: "Untitled #4" (1966) and "Untitled" (ca. 1967-68), exhibited alongside Bruce Nauman's "Henry Moore Bound to Fail" (1967-70).

April 21-May 27: "John Chamberlain: New Work" is exhibited at Xavier Hufkens in Brussels, featuring works like "Littered Kisses" (2004), "SGT. Clappingstone" (2005), "Young Baggage" (2005), and "Miss Cutie Singleton" (2006).

April 22-23: The Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, hosts the symposium "It's All in the Fit: The Work of John Chamberlain," featuring talks by various experts in the field.

May 11-June 18: Chamberlain participates in the "181st Annual: An Invitational Exhibition of Contemporary Art" at the National Academy in New York, receiving the Thomas B. Clarke Prize and the Daniel Chester French Medal.

July 14-September 10: Chamberlain participates in "New York New York: Fifty Years of Art, Architecture, Cinema, Performance, Photography and Video" at Grimaldi Forum Monaco.

August 26-November 19: Chamberlain is part of "Plane/Figure: Amerikanische Kunst aus Schweizer Privatsammlungen und aus dem Kunstmuseum Winterthur" at Kunstmuseum Winterthur and Graphisches Kabinett in Switzerland.

September 8-October 21: "John Chamberlain: It's His Show" is exhibited at Buchmann Galerie in Berlin, featuring small-scale sculptures.

October 17-November 15: "John Chamberlain: ChevyMetal" is exhibited at Galerie Terminus in Munich, showcasing works like "Aucassen and Nicolette" (1992), "Buoy Crazy" (1992), "Sparkle Plenty" (1993), and "Flashingfuge" (2006).

January: Chamberlain travels to Lanaken, Belgium, to work on new foam couches and cradles.

February 4-March 4: His work is exhibited as part of Artseasons in Paarl-Franschhoek Valley, South Africa.

March 19: he receives a Lifetime Achievement Award for visual arts at the Guild Hall Academy of the Arts 22nd Annual Awards Gala in New York.

March 27-May 4: "John Chamberlain: New Work" is exhibited at Anthony Meier Fine Arts in San Francisco. The exhibition includes sculptures like "COOPSCOOP" (2006), "LASTRAVAGANZA" (2007), "ONECARATSTUD" (2007), and "SHATTEREDBLOCKBUSTER" (2007), as well as "Chamberlain & Friends" (2007), a large-scale inkjet on canvas based on cut-up photographs.

March 28-July 2: Chamberlain participates in "Le nouveau réalisme" at Grand Palais in Paris, which later travels to Sprengel Museum in Hannover, Germany.

April 21-June 30: His work is exhibited at Galerie Karsten Greve in Paris.

April 26-May 31: "John Chamberlain: Smash" takes place at Greenberg Van Doren Gallery in St. Louis, showcasing small-scale works.

May 10-June 8: he participates in "Still Life and Kicking" at Paula Cooper Gallery in New York, featuring "Applewrap" (2007), a large-scale inkjet on canvas.

May 24-October 14: "John Chamberlain Squeezed and Tied: Foam and Paper Sculptures 1969-70" is exhibited at Dia Art Foundation, Dan Flavin Art Institute, Bridgehampton, New York.

June 19-September 9: Chamberlain engages in "Correspondences: Vincent van Gogh/John Chamberlain" at Musée d'Orsay in Paris.

Chamberlain returns to Lanaken in late June to begin working on a new body of work based on miniature aluminum foil sculptures.

June 28-July 27: he participates in "Salvaged" at PaceWildenstein in New York.

June 28-August 10: he takes part in "A Point in Space Is a Place for an Argument" at David Zwirner Gallery in New York.

June 28-August 24: "The Secret Life of Hernando Cortez" screens as part of the Free Summer Movie Festival at PaceWildenstein.

August 10: Alexandra Fairweather's documentary film "John Chamberlain and Miss Lucy Pink" premieres at Ross School in East Hampton, New York.

September 14-November 14: His work is exhibited at Galerie Karsten Greve in Cologne.

November 24, 2007- August 23, 2008: Chamberlain participates in the inaugural exhibition "Einfach Sehen" at Kunsthalle Weishaupt in Ulm, Germany.
